Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to post her music online as well as her own single Bound. The 21st day of July, 2015. Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's reference. Later in the year, her music was circulating around Dreamville. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. Then on the 9th November, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). The 13th of November, she released two more singles called The No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. On February 20, 2019 a music video was made available for the track. The track has received over 3 million hits on YouTube in its initial week. In support of the track, she toured together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
